Simplex Valve seats

These are specially made for us to our specifications.  I recently had to rebuild several sets of Simplex unit pneumatics for about 6 pianos I rebuilt.  I examined them and found subtle differences including the several sizes of the hole in the top metal valve seats.  They varied by how old they were.  The largest hole was found in the late Simplex stack that was playing a grand Recordo reproducing system.

At that time I rebuilt around 1,000 Simplex unit pneumatics and decided to update the older ones to match the later Recordo units.  I had these valve seats specially made to match the hole size of the Recordo which had to play faster than the earlier ones could.  The larger hole allows the pneumatic to open faster for faster repetition.  I seem to notice that it also speeds up the  repetition on an upright as well.

If you think a good technician is expensive, just try a bad one.
