4. Expression Box and
regulators
It came to us "restored" once before,
however, the inside pouches and valves had not been done and
the regulator cloth was too heavy. When we wet the cloth
and blew into the unit it blew bubbles at the blue
arrow
Overall, it looked good,
however nothing was found to be reliable for any length of
time, so a complete restoration was in order.
When pulling off the new
cloth from the first restoration, it was found to be crispy
with rubber falling out of the cloth in powder form.
After sanding off the old
cloth
After removing the
regulator pneumatics
The leather on the spill linkages had never
been replaced. Here they are pulled off and the linkages
has been cleaned
The new leather is applied to the linkage
bumpers
Accordian linkages had never been cleaned,
bushed, or refelted
Here are all the pieces laid out for
restoration. Note red felt bushings have been removed for
replacement after cleaning of wood.
Each linkage is bushed with new graphited
felt.
